Arm-Powered Dedicated Servers Now Available from Leaseweb

Leaseweb, a supplier of worldwide cloud services, dedicated servers, and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions, has made an announcement on the availability of Leaseweb Dedicated Ampere Altra Servers in the United States of America, the Netherlands, and Germany. By using the HPE ProLiant RL300 Gen11server with Ampere processors, Leaseweb aims to offer a sustainable solution to its clients and reduce its energy footprint in its data centers.

This new hosting service, which is based on HPE ProLiant RL300 Gen11 servers running the Ampere Altra family of processors with Arm architecture, would help businesses accelerate their digital transformation via the use of cloud-native servers – delivering the highest performance while using less power than traditional servers.

Numerous cloud native applications have higher requirements than virtual servers can fulfill from the underlying infrastructure, stated Leaseweb. When businesses are in charge of the actual server hardware, they can maximize the benefits of a computer infrastructure. This would allow them to take use of NVMe SSD, increase network speed (10Gbps), and set better processing performance (CPU/RAM/GPU), added Leaseweb.

To its already extensive offering of dedicated servers, Leaseweb has now added a new range, the HPE ProLiant RL300 Gen11. The HPE ProLiant RL300 Gen11 can scale up its performance linearly to meet end users' demands since it was designed for cloud native applications. This is because the server would now have competitive performance and significantly higher efficiency than it could have with the Ampere Altra CPU. Furthermore, it is the first server that is now in production to employ a CPU built on the Ampere Altra Servers Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), which rivals x86 CPUs in terms of raw performance while using less power. Ensuring server efficiency would enhance the hardware's ability to support scale-out cloud applications under heavy load and sustainably.

According to a Leaseweb stress test, the Ampere Altra Server used 30 percent less energy than a traditional x86 server. In addition, the HPE ProLiant RL300 Gen11 offers a much greater density per rack than x86 CPUs (up to 128 cores per CPU). When compared to a vintage Intel or AMD-based model, Ampere's research indicates that its Ampere Altra Servers may reduce a data center's footprint by a factor of two to three.

AdTech and MarTech Client Segments

"We are convinced of the potential that the Ampere-based HPE ProLiant RL300 Gen11 servers have for us and our customers, while simultaneously contributing to our environmental goals," said Leaseweb's Director of Product Management, Mathijs Heikamp. “These Ampere Altra Servers are ideal for any application that demands a high computational density at the lowest cost and maximum power economy, even if they were designed for Cloud Native settings. Our service has typically attracted a lot of attention from businesses in the AdTech and MarTech sectors.”

"Over the past few years, we have seen a dramatic increase in demand for power-efficient servers, driven by increasing scarcity of power, expanding water usage, and the challenge of building more and bigger data centers," said Jeff Wittich, Chief Product Officer at Ampere. “Ampere's Cloud Native Processors, which need half as many data center racks to achieve the same or greater computing performance, are being adopted by CSPs such as Leaseweb due in part to the need for a more sustainable approach. Leaseweb is offering a sustainable solution to its clients and reducing its energy footprint in its data centers by using the HPE ProLiant Gen11server with Ampere processors.”
