Arrcus Joins Ultra Ethernet Consortium to Advance AI, HPC Applications

To develop next-generation Ethernet technologies for AI and HPC applications, the Linux Foundation launched the Ultra Ethernet Consortium (UEC). Arrcus, a hyperscale networking software company delivering core, edge, and multi-cloud routing and switching infrastructure solutions, has now joined the Ultra Ethernet Consortium.

Leaders in the industry have joined together to create the UEC in an attempt to handle the increasing demands of AI and HPC workloads on data center networks. For these workloads to transport large datasets effectively and compute complicated algorithms quickly, scalable interconnects, low latency, and high performance would be necessary.

“Our goals at Arrcus are perfectly aligned with the UEC’s mission to create an open, interoperable, and high-performance Ethernet ecosystem,” said Shekar Ayyar, Chairman and CEO of ArrcusBy joining the UEC, Arrcus hopes to share its knowledge of cutting-edge networking technologies, such as its support for high-speed Ethernet connections like 400GE and 800GE and its Leaf-Spine Fabric Architecture. Additionally, the business is dedicated to collaborating with other UEC members to create and standardize novel Ethernet technologies that specifically address the requirements of HPC and AI applications.

Shekar Ayyar, Chairman and CEO of Arrcus, said, “We are excited to join the UEC and contribute to the development of next-generation Ethernet technologies for AI and HPC. Our goals at Arrcus are perfectly aligned with the UEC’s mission to create an open, interoperable, and high-performance Ethernet ecosystem, and we are confident that our participation will help to accelerate innovation in this critical area.”

With its newly released ACE-AI solution for distributed AI workloads, Arrcus is bringing its wealth of knowledge and creative ideas to the Ultra Ethernet Consortium. By providing a “cutting-edge,” unified network fabric for maximizing the performance of distributed GPUs and other computational resources for AI/ML workloads, this ArcOS-based networking solution would establish Arrcus as a key partner in the consortium's goals

Re-Architecting the Internet

Operators must adapt their networks to match the needs for ultra-high bandwidth while maintaining lossless and reliable connection as GenAI becomes more widely used. Ethernet would have the capacity to provide these advantages at a reasonable price. Alan Weckel, the founder and technology analyst of 650 Group, said, "We think Arrcus' participation in the Ultra Ethernet Consortium will help further innovation in this technology to deliver an open and AI-scale architecture."

Arrcus's dedication to expanding networking technology would further be demonstrated by its involvement in industry initiatives such as the Open Grid Alliance (OGA), which offers vendor-neutral strategies for re-architecting the Internet with the grid topologies required to support the next wave of applications and achieve global scalability. The company says it is still committed to creating a transparent, cooperative atmosphere that advances the networking sector.

The UEC can be a useful platform for industry cooperation and data center innovation. With the Ultra Ethernet Consortium, Arrcus is starting a new chapter in its history with a great opportunity to influence the direction of Ethernet-based solutions going forward, especially in the rapidly growing fields of AI and HPC workloads.
