Cloudflare Starts $1.25 Bn ‘Workers Launchpad’ Startup Funding Program

Cloudflare

In collaboration with renowned venture capital investors, CDN provider Cloudflare has unveiled a brand-new investment scheme for startups. The Cloudflare Workers platform, a highly scalable serverless computing platform that enables developers to build or enhance apps without configuring or maintaining infrastructure, would enable startups building applications on it to receive up to $1.25 billion in funding through the Workers Launchpad Funding Program.

“If there’s one thing venture capitalists look for in the companies they fund, it’s the potential to achieve significant scale. Startups that build on Cloudflare Workers are building on a platform made to automatically support serious scale,” said Matthew Prince, Co-Founder and CEO of Cloudflare. “While we can provide the technology, we’re thrilled to partner with some of the leading venture capital firms on the Workers Launchpad Funding Program, who will potentially invest more than a billion dollars in funding towards great startups built on Cloudflare Workers as they scale.”

Matthew Prince, Co-Founder and CEO of Cloudflare “If there’s one thing venture capitalists look for in the companies they fund, it’s the potential to achieve significant scale,” said Matthew Prince, Co-Founder and CEO of Cloudflare.

26 of the industry’s top venture capital firms are working with Cloudflare, including: Altimeter Capital, Altos Ventures, Amplify Partners, Bain Capital Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners, boldstart ventures, Cowboy Ventures, Decibel, Emergence Capital, FirstMark, Greylock Partners, IVP, Lightspeed, Meritech, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Norwest Venture Partners, Pear, Root Ventures, Scale Venture Partners, Signal Peak, and Silverton.

Any privately held business using Cloudflare Workers anywhere in the world is qualified to apply for the program. Companies may get a monetary investment from these partnering venture capital firms, as well as mentoring and assistance from Cloudflare, if they are chosen by the participating businesses. There is no assurance that a specific business will get cash under the initiative, and neither Cloudflare nor any funding decisions are being made. The venture capital firms taking part in the program will decide on all forms of funding. A registered broker-dealer, financial adviser, or other kind of comparable intermediary is not what Cloudflare is.

Developers Globally

In 2021, Cloudflare acquired Zaraz, marking the first time it has purchased a business based on its own technology (Cloudflare Workers).

Cloudflare Workers are currently being used by hundreds of thousands of developers worldwide to create and deploy apps without the need to set up or manage expensive infrastructure. Developers may deploy code near to their users to provide them access to Cloudflare’s “speed, performance, and scale” thanks to the content delivery network’s global reach across more than 275 cities and 100 countries. On Cloudflare’s developer platform, over 500,000 developers have created over three million applications since 2017.

Startups who apply to the funding program are eligible for the Cloudflare Startup Enterprise Plan, which includes Cloudflare Workers, Cloudflare for Teams, Cloudflare Stream, and more core security and performance services, as well as special events.
