In response to growing client demand, Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS), a global supplier of big enterprise and hyperscale data center solutions, has purchased land adjacent to its current location in Hayes, West London. With this development, Colt DCS's Hayes campus will rank among the biggest in the United Kingdom.
As more UK firms embrace the public cloud, West London is becoming one of the most important submarkets in Europe and a major site for data center expansion, according to Colt DCS. For businesses aiming to expand in the UK and Western Europe, London's reputation as one of the top business, media, and financial centers in the world would continue to be appealing.
Phase one of Colt DCS's first site in Hayes, which will comprise two buildings and provide 60MW of IT power, is expected to be finished in Q3 2025. The location is being developed quickly. Due to the strong demand of Colt DCS's current clientele, hyperscale data center providers, to occupy space at the original location, the company's data center facilities would be in high demand.
The current development will be continued with the addition of a second site, which will more than double the capacity of the London Hayes Data Centre campus. As a result, the entire property will rank among the biggest in the UK and become one of the largest multi-building data center campuses in Colt DCS’s global estate.
Importantly, Colt DCS has also acquired power - based on renewable energy - to supply the capacity needed for the new location in addition to the land purchase. The larger Colt DCS campus would be ideal for handling the increasing demand for capacity related to high-density, large-scale AI applications.
Sustainable Hyperscale Data Center
The new location will further Colt DCS's goal of building a hyperscale data center that is sustainable and helps its clients grow. By planning and taking part in initiatives related to education, employment, business commerce, and supply chains, it would also significantly contribute to the development of the social and economic climate in the neighborhood.
“There is continued strong demand from customers for UK-based hyperscale data centers, driven by continued growth in demand for digital services,” said Richard Wellbrock, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of Colt DCS. “Customers need scale in their data center solutions in order to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving digital services industry. The UK Government's ambitions to propel the digital economy to new heights in the global economy excite us as well, and our move to Hayes will strengthen the UK's capabilities to foster a dynamic growth environment. We are dedicated to becoming a reliable partner for our clients around the globe and making a long-lasting, sustainable difference in the communities that surround our facilities.”
