CoreSite Boosts Data Center Presence in New York and Denver

CoreSite, an American Tower Corporation subsidiary and a prominent player in hybrid IT solutions, is making significant strides in expanding its data center footprints in New York and Denver. This move would align with the rising demands for colocation capacity and power from various sectors, including public and private cloud providers, enterprises, and network and service providers.

The company's latest venture in New York involves the NY3 colocation data center, an 85,000-square-foot facility equipped with 15 critical megawatts (CMW) of capacity. This project recently received the green light for final construction phases. NY3 is poised to bolster CoreSite's presence in the New York market, joining the ranks of its existing data centers, NY1 in Manhattan and NY2 in Secaucus, New Jersey. Strategically positioned adjacent to NY2, NY3 is designed to cater to the needs of digital platforms, offering a robust ecosystem of networks and access to major cloud providers like AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Oracle Cloud.

This expansion is not just about scaling up. It would be about intensifying CoreSite's capability to support enterprises in enhancing application performance, cutting total ownership costs, and speeding up time to market. The New York campuses would stand out as some of the most connected and scalable data center colocation hubs on the Eastern Seaboard.

HPC and AI

Shifting the focus to Denver, CoreSite has embarked on an ambitious plan for a three-building data center campus. This development, sprawling across approximately 600,000 square feet with a 60 CMW capacity, has already received conceptual approval. It will feature an on-site substation and significantly enlarge CoreSite's Denver market presence. The Denver expansion includes the DE1 and DE2 data centers and will see the first colocation facility in the new campus offering 18 CMW of capacity across three floors. The campus, set on 15 acres, reflects CoreSite's commitment to meeting the dynamic requirements of its customers.

Brian Warren, CoreSite's Senior Vice President of Development and Product Engineering, emphasized the company's strategic approach to data center design and construction. "Our campus model is driven by customer demand," Warren said. He noted the surge in demand for high-density, high-performance computing applications, including artificial intelligence, underscoring the need for modern and efficient data centers.

These expansions in New York and Denver are more than just physical growth; they would represent CoreSite's adaptation to the evolving landscape of IT needs. With constructions like NY3 slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2024, CoreSite claims to be setting a benchmark in the industry, offering native access to leading cloud providers and a comprehensive interconnection ecosystem.
