MainOne Launches Tier III Data Center in Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa

Launching in November 2023, MainOne, an Equinix company and one of the top connectivity and data center colocation suppliers in West Africa, has announced the opening of their carrier-neutral, extended open access, Uptime Tier III standards data center, AB1.2, in VITIB, Grand Bassam, Cote d'Ivoire.

To meet the technical needs of its clients in Cote d’Ivoire, MainOne, an Equinix company, has continuously worked on delivering “top-notch” connectivity, colocation, and interconnection services since the landing of its submarine cable and the opening of the first data center in 2019. The objective of this development is to enhance digital transformation, promote innovation, and cater to the growing needs of Cote d'Ivoire and Francophone West Africa for data processing, storage, and networking.

“With this launch of our new data center in Cote d'Ivoire, we are entering an exciting phase of transformation for businesses as it delivers a great opportunity to welcome more customers into our rich digital ecosystem, interconnected to the major digital players in the region and delivering 100% uptime connectivity to internet,” said Etienne Kouadio Doh, Country Manager for MainOne in Cote D’Ivoire. “We anticipate that this cutting-edge facility will serve as a spark for digital innovation, offering a strong foundation for businesses to prosper and further solidifying Cote d'Ivoire's position as the digital center of the Francophone West African area.”

Equinix, AMS-IX

With this expansion, additional colocation clients in Cote d’Ivoire would be able to take use of “enterprise-grade” digital solutions and worldwide services and Internet Exchanges (IXs), the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX) hosted at this data center.

To ensure optimal performance, this “state-of-the-art” infrastructure would include “cutting-edge” technology, worldwide certifications, in-country expert assistance, superior security measures, and the most linked ecosystem in the area. Following MainOne’s acquisition by Equinix, MainOne’s colocation clients will also gain access to over 240 data centers in 32 countries across the world through secure and dedicated interconnection services which are provided at the data center via the Equinix data center platform.
