NetApp Launches Collaborative Bare-Metal-as-a-Service with Equinix Metal

NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) has unveiled NetApp Storage on Equinix Metal, a new collaborative Bare-Metal-as-a-Service (BMaaS) offering. NetApp Keystone, which provides a hybrid cloud experience in a single subscription delivers NetApp Storage combined with Equinix Metal as-a-service, allowing clients to choose the performance and storage capacity they want without overprovisioning. NetApp Keystone offers the ability to add extra storage as needed to meet company demands while lowering upfront expenditures.

Customers may access a comprehensive stack of computing, networking, and storage infrastructure with low latency connectivity to all major public clouds with NetApp Storage on Equinix Metal. This environment is packaged, priced, invoiced, and maintained under a single agreement. It may be dedicated or single tenant, and it would satisfy the strictest performance standards and flexibility needs.

Sandeep Singh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Enterprise Storage at NetApp, said that "Companies can move more workload types to the hybrid multi-cloud more easily and in greater numbers than ever before due to the quick speed of cloud innovation today. NetApp is a leader in providing first-party and native cloud solutions on all three major public clouds, giving customers a cohesive hybrid multicloud experience. NetApp Storage on Equinix Metal is another example of how valuable our relationship is to the industry and how committed we are to delivering hybrid multicloud as-a-service solutions that are easier to manage, scale, and perform better.”

The main advantages of NetApp Storage on Equinix Metal would include the following:

Integrated Solution - NetApp Storage is completely integrated with the infrastructure of Equinix Metal, guaranteeing a seamless full stack experience for compute, networking, and storage (file, block, and object) as-a-Service under a single subscription.

Cloud Adjacent - On all three major public clouds, customers may choose how to design their hybrid multicloud experience while keeping control over their data in a high-performance, low-latency environment on-site, in the cloud, or anywhere in between.

Better performance for demanding workloads - Users may get quick data access, low latency, and the capacity to manage even the most taxing workloads when they combine NetApp Storage with Equinix Metal's high-performance dedicated bare metal servers.

Scalable Capacity and Performance On-Demand - Customers using NetApp Storage on Equinix Metal would be able to adjust their storage capacity to suit changing business requirements.

Better Data Security - In an Equinix International Business Exchange (IBX) data center, NetApp Storage would offer customers the highest physical and environmental security as well as encryption, ransomware, and security features to help guarantee that customer data is safe. When a possible cybersecurity threat is detected, NetApp's proactive ransomware detection capabilities may immediately create an extra, irreversible data backup.

Global Reach - Users may benefit from NetApp Storage on Equinix Metal in Equinix IBX data centers all over the globe thanks to Equinix's wide global reach. Equinix has 26 Equinix Metal facilities and 250 IBX data centers spread throughout 71 metro areas as of June 2023.

Simplified Management - No matter where data lives, users have complete control and visibility over it thanks to NetApp's single control plane for storage and data services. The automated provisioning platform of Equinix Metal streamlines deployment and administration even further.

According to Brian Stein, Senior Vice president of Equinix's Edge Infrastructure Services, "The acceleration of AI, the growth in cloud adoption, and the desire to derive real-time insights from data puts significant pressure on customers to optimize data management to gain a competitive advantage. Another significant accomplishment is realizing our vision of an integrated, full stack solution, which gives business clients low latency access to all clouds while maintaining control over their data. This cloud adjacency simplifies operations and keeps expenses under control while transforming how businesses install apps, create their own solutions, and create new income streams.”
