“We are getting closer to our objective of creating and running a leading European edge data center platform with this acquisition,” said nLighten co-founder and CEO Harro Beusker.nLighten’s position as a forerunner in the European data center industry is strengthened as a result of this strategic acquisition, which also increases the company’s reach across Europe and the selection of services it provides throughout the continent.
The acquisition would enable EXA Infrastructure to concentrate on its substantial terrestrial and subsea fiber network, which it owns, as well as on being committed to investing in infrastructure.
In addition to nLighten, EXA Infrastructure is also a part of the portfolio of I Squared Capital, a major independent global infrastructure investor. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

European Edge Colocation Data Centers
As a result of this acquisition by nLighten, Amsterdam, London, Paris, Madrid, Geneva, Zurich, and Ghent are among the key business hubs that are now included in the total number of edge colocation data centers that nLighten operates throughout Europe.
The increased footprint would allow nLighten to offer its customers a new level of support across the continent. This is made possible by a network that would guarantee low-latency data processing and geographically distributed deployments, which can proof to be essential for achieving optimal business continuity and scalability, regardless of the applications that organizations are using.
“We are excited to announce the beginning of an exciting partnership with our sister firm, nLighten, as we each concentrate on our core skills in order to better achieve our respective goals,” said Nick Collins, Chief Commercial Officer of EXA Infrastructure. “Due to the sale, EXA Infrastructure is now able to concentrate solely on the construction and operation of the mission-critical network infrastructure that enables our customers’ growth.”
