Oman-IX Launched to Transform Digital Infrastructure in Middle East

Oman-IX, a new Internet Exchange Point that aims to alter digital infrastructure in the Middle East and beyond, has started its operations thanks to the efforts of AWASR, Alliance Networks, and AMS-IX. Equinix’s carrier neutral data center in Muscat, Equinix MC1, is now home to Oman-IX, which is powered by AMS-IX.

The objective of Oman-IX is to revolutionize digital infrastructure services in the Middle East and beyond by creating a neutral Internet Exchange and linking top telecom sector network providers, hyperscale data centers, and cloud services.

With Oman-IX acting as a hub for aggregating Internet traffic from local and worldwide networks, the introduction of Oman-IX might represent a critical turning point in Oman’s digital transformation path. This collaboration would demonstrate the businesses’ commitment to transforming digital infrastructure and communication across the Middle East and beyond. By using Alliance Networks’ and AWASR’s local experience, AMS-IX, and AWASR will collaborate to build a strong digital ecosystem and infrastructure services via this “win-win” relationship.
