Global cloud computing and virtualization software vendor, VMware has launched VMware Cross-Cloud managed services - a suite of prescriptive solutions designed to help its IT channel partners grow their managed services businesses. With VMware Cross-Cloud managed services, partners can construct managed services “more quickly and offer their customers a more user-friendly experience.” The program is designed to enhance channel partner profitability and accelerate time-to-value for multi-cloud settings.

The VMware Cross-Cloud managed services program combines prescriptive solutions, better incentives, synchronized go-to-market operations, and greater flexibility to make it simpler for partners to do business with VMware, according to the vendor. IT channel partners would be able to boost revenue from recurring services, enhance profitability for the business, and accelerate time-to-value for multi-cloud settings. The partner program also aims to help channel partners who are currently experiencing a skills and talent gap in the IT industry.

“With our global ecosystem of VMware Cross-Cloud Managed Services Providers, we will help customers evolve from cloud chaos to cloud smart while achieving outcomes faster,” said Zia Yusuf, Senior Vice President of Strategic Ecosystem and Industry Solutions at VMware. “VMware Cross-Cloud managed services are yet another illustration of how we will enable partners to develop and grow their VMware businesses while working together to support customers in implementing a cloud smart strategy that accelerates their digital transformation.”

The offerings for VMware Cross-Cloud managed services are closely aligned with VMware’s go-to-market, sales, and support operations and target important customer outcomes. Partners would be enabled to create unique Validated Service Offerings to provide specialized services using these targeted offers.

Hybrid Cloud Deployments

According to VMware, IT channel partners will be able to minimize total cost of ownership (TCO) for on-premises environments, streamline operations, lower risk with observability, actionable insight, and performance optimization, and speed up cloud migrations with VMware Cross-Cloud managed services for Hybrid Cloud. The new VMware Cloud Packs, which will comprise hyperconverged infrastructure, hyperconverged infrastructure with advanced automation, compute with advanced automation, and VMware Cloud Foundation, will be used by partners to construct these services.

IT channel partners would also be able to automate more secure modern platform operations across different clouds, accomplish unified governance, and provide better cost controls thanks to VMware Cross-Cloud managed services for Native Public Cloud and Modern Apps. These offers include VMware Cross-Cloud managed services for Centralized Governance powered by VMware Aria, VMware Cross-Cloud managed services for Cost Optimization powered by VMware Aria Cost, and VMware Cross-Cloud managed services for Cloud Native App Delivery powered by VMware Tanzu.

Josh Prewitt, Chief Product Officer, Rackspace Technology “VMware Cross-Cloud managed services will enable Rackspace to deliver new outcome-focused service offerings that accelerate cloud migration and streamline operations,” said Josh Prewitt, Chief Product Officer, Rackspace Technology.

In addition to the above, VMware would also be offering benefits for Cross-Cloud Managed Services Providers, incentives, and capability development. The brand-new VMware Cross-Cloud managed services badge will attest to partners' proficiency in providing VMware validated managed services offerings (VSOs) and will serve as proof that they have earned the upcoming VMware Managed Services Specialization (MSS).

Badged partners may be eligible to receive up to 40% more compensation for assessments and proofs-of-concept, up to 100% more compensation for deployment services than non-badged partners, and significantly higher back-end rebates for selling VMware Cross-Cloud managed services. Customers will have the option to deploy their current VMware subscriptions to environments provided by VMware Cross-Cloud Managed Services Providers, giving them the opportunity to get the most out of their subscriptions by utilizing the support and knowledge of certified VMware partners.

“Rackspace is committed to helping our customers do more than just manage their multi-cloud environments. We’re about helping our customers use multi-cloud as an innovation engine that drives their businesses forward,” said Josh Prewitt, Chief Product Officer, Rackspace Technology. “VMware Cross-Cloud managed services will enable Rackspace to build on more than a decade of expertise in VMware to deliver new outcome-focused service offerings that accelerate cloud migration, streamline operations and enable customers to deliver applications faster and more securely.”
