To give on-demand bandwidth access throughout its 400G fully equipped lit-fiber network across Europe, Zayo Group, a worldwide supplier of fiber network infrastructure, has announced the launch of its Waves on Demand service. Customers may now access Zayo’s network services across Europe in as little as five working days, a considerable reduction from the industry norm of more than thirty days for service delivery intervals.
With its Waves on Demand solution, Zayo aims to improve data center connectivity by empowering users to quickly deploy wavelength services. This connectivity solution, which automates the supply of wavelengths on the busiest routes within 24 hours, is especially intended for ‘large bandwidth’ customers. It would offer a quick, secured, and adaptable approach to grow and develop a connectivity environment.
Zayo’s Waves on Demand would emphasize speed, security, and flexibility for expanding and developing operations by cutting the time it takes to switch on bandwidth from weeks to hours. With a fully managed, self-service, and automated buying platform, Zayo’s Waves on Demand offers instant access to dedicated bandwidth for both 100G and 400G wavelengths.
On important routes connecting Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris, Marseille, Bordeaux, and Dusseldorf, this quick implementation model has already been put into practice. This capacity may be expanded to key access points across Western Europe when combined with Zayo’s metro network. By the end of the year, Zayo plans to extend this capacity to Milan, Manchester, and Dublin.
Up to 800G Line Side Capacity
“We know that turning up Wave capacity can be a long and tedious process,” said Michael Katz, VP for Product & Technology at Zayo Europe. The most crucial characteristic for customers purchasing high-capacity services, according to a recent OMDIA survey, is quick service activation. Yet, the industry as a whole has seen a slowdown and reduction in flexibility in the ordering and setup of Wave routes.
“At Zayo, we’re focused on addressing our customers’ needs now and into the future by connecting what’s next,” said Michael Katz, Vice President for Product & Technology at Zayo Europe. “We know that turning up Wave capacity can be a long and tedious process, leaving businesses with subpar services that impact their ability to deliver for their customers. Our new Waves on Demand offering will provide our customers with seamless service that is efficient, scalable, and cost-effective, meaning they can react in a matter of days to their business and customers’ needs.”
Customers may expand bandwidth on dedicated, pre-provisioned circuits, up to 800G line side capacity, using Zayo's Waves on Demand, which is powered by Ciena's WaveLogic 5 technology. Customers may get the greatest high capacity services at competitive prices, according to Zayo.
“The industry is crying out for faster turn-up of services,” said Will Rhodes, Director EMEA Carrier Managed Service Partners at Ciena. “Getting high-capacity connectivity in several days will help to improve Zayo’s wholesale and enterprise customers’ agility and efficiency. This step-change will align better with end-user needs and digital experience.”
