Serverless product FastEdge, being released by Gcore, global supplier of CDN services, cloud, AI, and edge technologies, is redefining application deployment and performance. According to Gcore, FastEdge is a “low-latency, high-performance” solution for developing responsive and customized applications without the hassles of server maintenance. It is specifically designed for cloud-native development.
“Our goal in creating FastEdge, our new edge computing offering, was to free the developer community from the constraints of conventional cloud computing,” said Andre Reitenbach, CEO at Gcore.FastEdge leverages Gcore’s experience in cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and security to provide serverless edge execution. With the help of the service, developers may launch decentralized applications anywhere without having to worry about maintaining infrastructure or server setup.
The foundation of this innovation is Gcore’s content delivery network (CDN), which distributes customized code to more than 160 edge nodes globally. This would guarantee an almost instantaneous reaction to user inputs, resulting in “outstanding” application responsiveness.
Gcore FastEdge’s core high-speed performance comes from the WebAssembly (Wasm) runtime environment. With an ultra-fast startup time, WebAssembly would launch applications many times faster than those based on standard containers. Improved security is offered by FastEdge’s separated sandbox environment, which guards against malware while guaranteeing a reliable, high-performance experience.
FastEdge facilitates the lightweight execution of AI models at the edge, hence optimizing the development, testing, and deployment of GenAI applications. Because of this capability, developers would no longer have to build their own AI infrastructure, greatly speeding up time to market in a field that is changing quickly.
Now in Beta, For Free
“At Gcore, we strive to make the Internet a better place for everyone,” said Andre Reitenbach, CEO at Gcore. “Our goal in creating FastEdge, our new edge computing offering, was to free the developer community from the constraints of conventional cloud computing so they could create and implement practical applications fast, simply, and worldwide. The next significant development in CDN technology is edge computing, which breaks down geographical constraints and enables creative minds to innovate and provide distinctive value. We’re thrilled to offer both dev enthusiasts and industry specialists this unique chance.”
With a wide range of use cases, Gcore’s FastEdge offering serves network and infrastructure specialists looking for cutting-edge network management solutions in addition to frontend and full-stack developers.
With ambitions to support Go and other languages in the future, developers working in JavaScript and Rust may use FastEdge, which is now in beta, for free. Gcore will soon provide the entire release’s pricing information. It is recommended that developers have a hands-on experience with FastEdge to see how it can revolutionize application development and deployment.
